Five years ago, we purchased a large media console and matching custom-built coffee table from Standout Designs (with whom Brian was employed). We have been very pleased with those items and were sorry to learn of the business closing. When I received word that Brian and Amiee were establishing their own woodworking shop it was an omen.
I had been looking high and low for something decent to hold my stereo equipment and albums; most everything I ran across was imported junk or ridiculously expensive. I wanted something worthy of this life-long hobby. After just one or two exchanges of emails and sketches, Brian did a mock-up of what I had in mind and he nailed it! I decided to go with walnut and it proved to be an excellent choice. Brian told me to expect a lead time of 8-10 weeks, but he completed it slightly sooner.
I took delivery of the unit today and was like a kid at Christmas! Straight off the bat, the freight driver and I were impressed with the solid, professional crating that protected the unit. I grabbed a Phillips screwdriver and began to uncrate the cabinet. Brian's professionalism and skill are apparent in the time and care he spent protecting his work. And the cabinet itself? Just what I envisioned -- functional and a thing of beauty. This was a particularly good batch of walnut and its graining is remarkable. I'm taking the liberty of including two pictures Brian took before shipping it.
My bottom line? I couldn't be happier with this unit and my dealings with B&A Woodworks. I highly recommend them to anyone considering a similar purchase.
