Introducing B&A Woodworks
B&A Woodworks is an American family small business located in the central Pennsylvania town of Tyrone. The majority of the lumber we use is sustainably harvested within a 50-mile radius of our shop. In fact, most of our lumber comes from a mill only about one mile away. We work mainly in red oak, white oak, cherry, maple, and walnut. Other woods are available as well.
We strive to be the very best, not the fastest nor the cheapest. Our furniture is truly handmade to order and built to last. We construct our pieces almost entirely from genuine American solid wood. We will use veneer-grade plywood where the application calls for it. We hand select all of our wood and join it using time-proven joinery. All of our drawers are solid wood and dovetailed.
To maintain total control of the quality of our projects, we make virtually all of our wood parts in-house. Unlike many furniture shops, we make all of our own panels, all of our doors, and all of our drawers. This is the only way to ensure the top quality that our customers expect and deserve.
We offer many different finish color options and top all of our projects with a durable conversion varnish finish.
Most projects are custom. We listen to our customer's thoughts and needs, then offer ideas and suggestions. Once we feel we have enough information, we provide a quote. From there, if our price is agreeable, we will provide sketches for review and to provide the opportunity to make changes before we begin construction. We will also provide finish samples for approval.
Because some pieces have garnered popularity on the web, we also now offer "standard" products for order through our online store. As each piece is nevertheless handcrafted, customizations are offered on these products too.
Our terms are 50% down with the balance due upon completion. Lead times vary depending upon workload and complexity but generally run 6-8 weeks.
When shipping is required, we work to get the best rate and take as much care in the packaging as we do in our construction.
